What would be the advantages or disadvantages of runing 9:1 pistons.

The low compression or high compression argument has been a pretty common topic lately. Try searching, I've seen a few posts in the past weeks. If you can't find what you're looking for here, NASIOC and other big forums have covered the topic.

The difference in moving from 8.8 to 9.0 is 2.2%. In other words, the difference between 8.8 and 9.0 is relatively tiny.

You would need to calculate what kind of cylinder pressures you would get with a 9.0 to 1 compression piston to really see what kind of power gains you would get.
