titanium downpipes

so ive been searching for a 1 piece titanium downpipe from the 02 housing to the catback 1 piece, but it seems like no one makes one.

so i went to a shop to see if they can fab me one, and it seems that since the material would cost alot, it might be cheaper if i got a few pipes made. the more the merrier ofcourse, how many people would be interested in such a product?

That would be pretty cool. What's the projected price of the completed product and what kind of muffler would you use?

i got some quotes for the piping itself... GOSH DAMN... its pricey....

its about 400 bucks for a 4 foot pipe (3 inch of course) not including flanges and welding, now i know why no one makes them

It would still be sweet to say you run a TBE that's only 12 - 15 lbs

Plus I think you can weld on SS Flanges, it's not going to be as light as full Ti but it'll be much easier to make and mass produce, and it'll keep the cost down I think

I actually looked into this as well for my exhaust and intercooler pipes. I was told that it is very easy to bend but you cant crush it or drill it for that matter. Also you have to have someone that specializes in welding Ti because its a specific matter so I dont think you'll be welding on any S.S. flanges with Ti.

i dont think you can weld 2 different metals together....

also, i wonder why no company makes it... is there a reason why no one makes it?

the cool factor isnt worth the money. trust me.

and what do u do if u plan on welding on a bung? get a Ti bung made? um dont think so.

100% not worth it

I still like the idea. If you got the money you got the money. I dont have the money but i would still like to do my intercooler piping in Ti. No welding necessary with the piping just some bending you can probably have done at a good exhaust shop or any other place that does mendrel bending.

Ti intercooler piping will be heavier than aluminum piping.

titanium is mad expensive. ive worked on it before. I actually work for a piping company and we use it once in a while. im talking about like 10feet 3in pipe. its pretty light weight. Also Titanium is kinda hard to weld if u dont know what ur doing. I was actally surpised that the GReddy Ti-C is full Titanium.
