we run like over 35psi on pump fuel here in the UK with no issues, obviously you need a build block though

Asking what timing someone else is running is pretty irrelevant. There are so many factors that effect what timing you can run, the fuel, compression ratio, cams, how the cams are degreed, intercooler, headwork, size of turbo, etc...

This isn't rocket science guys! We are talking whole numbers generally from 0-40 lol. Generally you map the car until it dets then back it off a bit for a pump gas map. Just make sure you have a good method of listening for det.

blueevo8, glad to hear you got it and like it. It's amazing how far the stock stuff will take you in power. That's what's on my RS and 99% of the cars we build.

I highly doubt that... did you see a datalog? Did you ask what specific boost? Did you ask what gear? All of those things have a huge effect. Spooling to 1.4 bar in my car in 4th gear is about 4200 rpm. Spooling to 2 bar is about 4600 rpm.

That is with an HTA 35R .63 a/r on a 2.4.

ok relax.

I wasn't being nearly as technical as you.

I'm speaking from laymen experience.

On the graph on the first page, the boost seems to hit around 4500rpms.

My car consistantly (give or take considering what gear i'm in) usually hits boost and peak torque between 4300-4700.......

Keep in mind, i'm running about 35lbs of boost as well.......

No Rez90 is correct here in germany one of david's guys here in germany has an HTA and the spool is awsome! By 4000k on 98oct pump gas it scares the crap out of me and just spins the tires! The HTA is the best middle weight spooling turbo imho!

Oh boy..

I'm sure Dave can comment on what the OP's car made 2 bar at in 4th gear. No reason for conjecture... the man himself can answer.

ahhh... this is the scariest thing I have ever read in a post.... Try that method with a rotary and see what happens... . wait until you see detonation?? really? there are only a handfull of motors that can take that sort of abuse,,, lucky for us, the 4g63 is one of them. ( i will miss the iron block closed deck design when the aluminum block in the evo X shows up..)

just to clearify, a rotary would blow itself to a thousnad tiny pieces of apex seals if it ever saw as much knock as a 4g63 does with just a crappy tank of gas...
