6,7,8, & 9 transmission?

Does anybody know if I could use a 7,8 or 9 USDM tranny for a 6 JDM RHD? Possible 6 speed swap on a Evo 6? but 5 speed works too. I know that the gear ratios are different but do they share the same case since they share the same engine? Thanks.

The tranny is the same. Any tranny from 4-9 can work. The 6-speed may have clearance issues in the frame and would require all the normal swap parts.

I know what car you are working with. Are you potential buyer or seller? You can buy the cases from 8 at the dealer for around 650 for pair. If case is cracked thats what should be done to save that low mile tranny. You could also contact shep racing or TRE for uses cases for half that price.
