Unhappy loud noise car dies??

Ok i have a slight problem and have no idea what it could be. lets say im sitting at a red light at idle, and there is a truck next to me with exhaust or somethin. and it starts to go. tho noise/ vibration will either cause my car to bog down or even die? it also bogs down if i just drop my hood at idle? has no check engine light either... any ideas? thanks...

Thats just the nature of a MAF equipped car. Do you run an open air filter? That usually makes it a little worse.

I have never heard that in my life?

So you are saying a loud noise will cause a MAF equipped car will die at a light from a lound noise/vibration?

Anything to back that up?

Matt

Do you have cams? Does he? The tune has alot to do with it too. Your timing at idle or maf re-scaling can affect it.

no i dont have cams but i do have a really messed up tune by cobb. my car runs like crap ( not like daily driving though just when you decide to get on it it cuts out at 5500). i was thinkin maybe the knock sensor too but wouldnt it throw a code if so and i logged it and got no knock when it does such things...

If your knock sensor sees more than ~3 counts of knock it will just dip into the low octane map. The car wont throw a CEL.

mine does that all the time if a harley or truck is next to me, or even if i close the hood of the car when its on. its the ecu thinking it hears knock. Its kinda annooying, almost as if the car is acting scared and wussing out lol

you are not alone.... several evom members have had issue with loud cars next them, or harley's or whatever making their car die. I wouldn't call it a common issue, but it is an issue with several cars. Several threads on evom about this to research.

Knock sensor, my car will even stumbles a bit when you close the hood if it's running. Very noticeable at the track for sure.

Normal. Mine did it also. It is the computer and the knock sensor doing their job.
