is it a 20G wheel? or a Green wheel?

I'm hoping someone has their brand new EVO green sitting close by. I searched a few threads, but no one takes pics of ther Green's turbine, therefore the following......

I recently purchased a 20G-9-5, complete with ported manifold and o2...w/sensor(o2 and sensor for sale as soon as i can get it out)....for an unbelievable price.

The turbo needs a rebuild (in and out shaft play) and ofcourse, I started seeing green. But, I started to wonder if this turbo was already a green. I doubt it, but the person I bought it from wasn't sure either. At the time he purchased the turbo, he order "the biggest turbo that used the stock manifold".

So, here is what I'm using for comparison. This turbo has 11 blades on the turbine wheel. I won't be measuring inducer/exducer, so lets not get technical. Its cold outside and the turbo isn't with me at the moment.

THE QUESTION: How many blades are there on the turbine wheel of a 20g-LT?
THE NEW QUESTION: Does the 20G-9-5 use a 16g turbine wheel?....How many blades are on this wheel?

From what i know, the 20G-9-5 is basically a slightly smaller/older green turbo. It's better than most 20G out there, but still a little less than the green. The compressor wheel looks identical to the green, but slightly smaller.

svtkiller posted a pic of what makes a fp-grn a fp-grn = the turbine wheel...

otherwise look @ any 16g turbine wheel & you wont be able to see between the turbine vanes as easily as you can with a fp-grn.

I thought the comp wheel was the same and the only different was the turbine wheel. can someone confirm this. I have read numerous threads stating this.

Good point. I'm need to distinguish between a genuine 20G wheel and a green wheel. I have no idea what our 16g wheel looks like, but im sure the spacing is less, thus the increased backpressure.

^^thanks Mellon. The comp wheel looks so fresh.lol. I'm starting to think mine looks different. I know for sure its a 20G 5 blade wheel. I don't know if there is a new version of the comp wheel.....Is there?

^^^funny. I just got a text from my friend (The seller). He said he made 410whp and 386trq spiking 28lbs of boost with this turbo These numbers don't seem too accurate. I believe a 20G spiking to 28 with alky/methanol should make at least 400+ trq, considering all supporting mods were done.......and on a EVO9 at that. done at turbotrix in NJ.

Opinions welcome....

I'm ~ 400 on 93 octane on my evogreen with a spike to 26psi and tapering to ~ 22psi by redline.

I'm currently tuning an IX with basic mods @ 30psi and it's also at 400awhp, but it took race gas, more timing, better heads and 4psi more to match

here's my DLL and it's seen 116-118mph traps

thats my goal. To get 400 on pump (maybe a little more on a dynojet). I bet spiking to 26 is kinda scary. A spike to 25 falling to 22 seems tolerable, but beyond that might be more than i can handle.

back to topic: I'm starting to think its just a 20G...

25-26psi isn't a big deal when you have the right complimentary mods to reduce back pressure and exhaust reversion due to restrictions. I've had several customers try to run the same boost as me and most can't do it because of poor mod choices.

I think these are what made the difference for me: BR ported exhaust mani, BR ss 02 housing, BR 3" tbe with bullet muffler, test pipe.

we have very similar mods. I now have the ported manifold and turbo...BR v-band TBE, ss o2 housing, HKS cams......looking into a ported intake manifold and TB by next summer.
