Anyone ever use an ACT PP with stock disc?
Just wondering if anyone has ever used an ACT pressure plate with a stock mitsubishi disc to try and rid the lockout issue? I have a 6 puck im really not fond of so im thinking of putting my stock mitsu disc back in insted to make it more daily driving friendly. Thanks

bump for anyone whos tried it. Ive done it on my galant vr4 with sucess but i dont see that anyone has done it with an evo. I dont have anything to measure thickness compared to an act disc or anything so i hope it would work. I think im going to try it out this weekend and let you all know how it goes.
In the first couple months of EVO clutch sales, we used to sell our EVO HD pressure plate with the stock disc before the clutches became available to us through the aftermarket. Our HD pressure plate requires more travel to operate than the stock pressure plate because it has a stronger spring and slightly altered geometry so at that time adjustment was critial to get it to release properly. Later when we introduced our performance street disc with reduced cushioning between the linings, it complimented our HD pressure plate by requiring less travel for the clutch to release.
The "lockout issue" as you put it, is primarily do to improper adjustment (inadequate release). By using the stock disc with our pressure plate, you are increasing the need for adjustment since the stock disc requires more travel to release than our disc. The stock disc is also not as durable or long lasting as our disc. If you use the factory stock disc (bought only through stealership) then one good thing is that it will probably lave less gear noise than our disc because the factory spring center is designed for noise reduction. The bottom line is that if you use the stock disc, you will have to adjust the heck out of it to release properly compared to our disc.

thanks for the reply i really appreciate it. I ended up dropping the tranny lastnight and put a stock disc in with the HD pressure plate. I stopped after getting the input shaft into the pressure plate but i havent lined the splines up yet on the disc cause my arms were dead. Im about to go back out in an hour or so to finish it all up and ill post my results when i get to finally drive it. Anything imo would be better than the 6 puck i had in, couldnt stand it as far as chatter.

If the sprung hub, how bad was it to drive on the street?

th ironic part was i ordered the sprung from chris at no limit motorsports but he sent me the unsprung which really pissed me off but i had no more time before needing my car back again so i was basically forced to install that one out of error. Its just been a nightmare sense then, and hell to drive on the street i will never ever buy a 6 puck as long as i live. It started ok with just a little chatter but got worse and worse to the point of doing it bad all the time... never again

lol, hows that workin for ya? i still have an unmolested 6 puck disc if anyone wants it for a small price plus shipping. The only good i liked about it is it provided laser fast shift ability!
Dirk (ACT) actually says its a viable option. The stock PP allows for just enough slip to make this work well. All the local guys swear by it. BUT, dont expect to get more than 20-30k miles out of it. The 6 puck disc will destroy the stock flywheel & PP.
