EGR removal w/ aftermarket intake manifold

Ok i used the search button and havent found to much on the subject and had some question for u guys.

Im ordering a JMF sheetmetal intake and im going to remove the EGR bc the manifold has no provisions for the egr system. I have read that removing the EGR system really isnt a problem other then the fact that it throws a check engine light.

Is there any issues with deleting the EGR?

So is there any fix for the check engine light code? can someone like Ivey or Turbo Trix tune that out? This is my biggest concern.

I have read of some issues of people having idle problem with the aftermarket intake manifolds is this true?

For u guys that have deleted it which line are u caping off?

looking for the same info. I was thinking that perhaps I could rig up something similiar to a o2 simulator that sends voltage back saying everything is OK. Believe me I have not researched this info yet, but just my first thought.

I'm running the AMS intake that has no provisions for EGR. It does throw a code. But I was running a Utec also, which allows you to turn off the check engine light. I did not experience any issues when the EGR was removed. Idle, driveability, performance etc. all stayed the same. There are a couple of threads in the tuning forum (Ecuflash) about the stock map sensor also, and it's only function is stated to be EGR control. I played around with the map sensor plugged in and unplugged (I even bought the special $25 adapter to mount it), and again no change in operation that I could tell. Can someone confirm or deny this??????

Back in my supra days, a simple resistor cured the EGR trouble code, but not sure it that would work on the Evo or not, haven't looked into it. My idle did not change with the intake. I see no issues with not running EGR other than pollution control.

there's a few flags in the ECU that can be adjusted to disable the EGR test and it should also disable the codes themselves. I remember stumbling on it when I was experimenting.

Eliminating the test and the codes should allow the car to also pass an inspection (if its OBD-II only, and not visually verified) but I don't know anyone who has gone through an inspection with the test disabled.

Do OBD-II emissions tests look for trouble codes only, or do they actaully run a diagnostic? Would OBD-II fail do to the EGR valve\tests is disabled?

Thats what we haven't been able to confirm yet..

The test itself looks for these readiness tests to pass, if their flagged as unsupported or not applicable, the testing machine should disregard it. If its "incomplete" then it may cause a problem. Cel codes themselves are a red flag, and usually will cause a car to fail. But disabling the EGR test itself, and the EGR/MAP sensor components (if I have the right flags turned off) Then there should be no CEL or Rediness tests for the EGR valve.

There are two issues here, one if it can work and properly disable it. I have only done this extensively on a bench harness to see if this works, then to have a car go through an inspection and see if it sucessfully passes.

The final issue is if different states have more or less stringent testing equipment for OBD-II (AFAIK its the same equipment and testing for OBD-II)
