My Evolution cooling fan turns on and off about every minute when the car is ideling.
I have never had a car that does this. My other cars turn on about every five minutes for about a minute.
It may be no big deal but it just seems like a hell of a lot switching on and off. It seems it turns on and off with only a very slight temp difference.
Does your car do this?

 

My Lancer OZ does this when running the A/C. Very annoying and gets pretty loud sometimes. Can't be very good for the system as it probably will lead to early wear.

 

It's just cooling fans man...

The fans are not connected to the engine, they run only when needed. When your temps get too high, they kick in and throw a TON of air through the radiator.

Nothing abnormal.

 

Mine does it. You gotta think, w/ the turbo you get lots more heat. The cooling fan is the only means to keep the car cool when idleing b/c your radiator isn't nearly as efficient sitting still.
