what are restrictor pills?
ok, i've tried searching for titles and havent found anything. like my title says, what are restrictor pills? i know stock evos have them...but what are they and what is their purpose? everyone seems to know what they are for since i can't find anything by searching. so, would someone please tell what they are and what their purpose is?
i know for sure i don't have one in my car anymore since all the vacuum lines were changed when i did my intake. is that bad? do you really need it?
and another question...is there a similar thing in the clutch line? i recall reading something about that too but can't find that thread anymore.

If you look for the vacuum lines from the inlet of the turbo and wastegate they lead to where the air box is. Its a sensor that the two vac lines go to and its how the ecu regulates boost.
If you bought your car with a mbc or evc then you probably wont have it.

The pills are inside the factory lines. If you plan to control boost with the ECU you'll need to modify them or replace them with different diameter opening ones
You are correct with the module that the line go to. BCS

yep u sure did. so bottom line is...u don't really need them for manual boost controllers or electronic ones...but u only need them for ecu based boost control or for the stock boost solenoid, correct?
Glad this was brought up. I noticed a few references to the restrictor pill as well which struck some curiosity.
In the Eclipse community its a commonly accepted free mod to remove that pill from the BCS for a couple more lbs of boost. I would imagine that it works the exact same way in the Evo, but I haven't seen any posts or references about doing this. Does the Boost Control system in the Evo work that much differently than in the old turbo Eclipses that removing the pill doesn't end in the same results?

In the OP can someone answer his question about the clutch line restictor pil and answer it in detail. For example its purpose, what it does being in and what it does being out of the car. Its ill effects if any on the car, and its advantages.....
i think the one in the clutch line keeps the clutch feeling soft....for what i heard it makes the clutch soft. so if you take it out, you will feel the clutch ingague a lot easier and maybe a little more stiff? maybe someone can confirm this...
