what are restrictor pills?
As far as I know the restrictor pill in the clutch line slows down the movement of the hydraulic fluid. This causes the clutch to engage slower. Mitsu did this to save stress on the drive train during a launch by making you burn your clutch more when you pop it.
Thanks
Thanks now that makes sense. So basically removing it would be ok, however if you launch like $hit or bang through the gears you can kill your drive train or kill it faster than normal. Is this right?
ok, i've tried searching for titles and havent found anything. like my title says, what are restrictor pills? i know stock evos have them...but what are they and what is their purpose? everyone seems to know what they are for since i can't find anything by searching. so, would someone please tell what they are and what their purpose is?
i know for sure i don't have one in my car anymore since all the vacuum lines were changed when i did my intake. is that bad? do you really need it?
and another question...is there a similar thing in the clutch line? i recall reading something about that too but can't find that thread anymore.

Yep. I imagine taking it out is also a great way to void your drivetrain warranty, assuming a dealer ever finds out you did it. So if you did take it out and you for instance... blew your tranny.. make sure you put it back in before taking it to the dealership.
Also if you have baseline numbers to compare to that will be great.
(I'm just trying to get an idea of the gain in power a completely stock car can make with only a flash)
to the OP...
As restrictor pill is what its name says. It's a pill in the line somewhere that causes some form of restriction. The one in the BCS keep you running the spicified amoutn of boost. Don't F with that. If you get a MBC or EBC then the new solenoid will replace it. You some form of restriction to keep the turbo from over boosting.
The restrictor pill in the clutch line slows the movement of the clutch fluid so the clutch engages more smoothly. Many people who go with an aftermarket clucth also get a stainless steel clutch line which has no restrictor pill. This makes for a more harsh engagement but gives you better pedal feel. Some claim it makes it easier to launch and so on.
If your drivetrain is stock and yoiu want better clutch feel, get a SS clutch line. If you need to bring it to the dealer for something then just switch the old line back in.
I just switched my MR to a 5spd Shep tranny with a carbonetic twin and SS clutchline. My drivetrain is smooother than butter. The pedal feel is incredible. I love the new setup.
