[HELP] Need a new oil pan gasket?

-So we own a car dealership in PA...and just picked up another EVO VIII at the Manheim Auto Auction on Friday.

-On Saturday the car went through post sale inspection where it was said to of had a small oil leak. They quoted the fix to be $140 and are paying for it...but, they said the fix is a new gasket? (I called local Mitsu dealer and they said it probably needs resealed.)

-Sunday they are closed.

-Monday transporter is booked.

-Tuesday (tomorrow) it comes back to the dealership. Now my question is what should I do? Should I take it to a local garage and have them reseal / put on a gasket or what? I really need to see for myself before I can say what it really is.

I am trying to get to...have any of you experienced this? How could something like this be caused? Bottoming out? Hitting a few jumps?

My plan of attack: Get it back, drive it straight to local garage (non mitsu, but did install clutch on last EVO and did a hell of a job!), then have them order parts (just a gasket, i guess) / install, plus do an oil change

it is a mitsubishi RTV silicone type gasket maker. much different that what you can buy at the parts store tho. It isnt hard to do, but plan on fight with the oil pan to come off. I ended up bending the crap out of mine (the bolt flange) in quite a few places, but that can be fixed with a hammer. You may need the 2 oil return line gaskets for the turbo, 2 of the small o-ringed washers for the bolts on the return line to oil pan, downpipe to cat (or cat delete) pipe gasket, and possibly the O2 housing to down pipe gasket, in addition to the silicone RTV from mitsu

The most common problem with doing the pan, other than getting everything out of the way so you can get it off, is leakage around the capscrews that attach the oil return line to the pan. Oil seeps through around the threads. The maker uses a washer under the capscrew that has a rubber seal. It is a good idea to have new replacements for these. I'd recommend a new return line to pan gasket too.
