Mine was done by WOT. and the intake was ported match the 65mm diameter. NO whilstle at all. Just tiny cool swoosh sound when the TB opens up.

May be the problem is that you guys didn't do the port job on intake side. it could cause the turbulence in flow.

Mine was done at the same time together also and it matches perfectly. There aren't any sharp edges the only issue I can see that would cause this would be the clearance between the throttle plate and body when it moves across the bottom at very low TPS%.

Mine is not only whistling, but it wants to idle at 1800 RPM with the adjustment screw all the way down?

Last night I took off the TB and ported the gasket to better match the TB and filed down any burrs. Re-installed and whistle is gone!

Do you have a MIL.SPEC TB?

AFAIK, we have zero whistle issues with our units as Aby has solved the problem.

I put the Works TB shafts seals and mine whistles, so i am almost sure its caused by the seals...? Do most people who port them use the Works HP seals?

yea, funny thing is, when i first got the intake mani and tb there was no whistle, only idle creeping every now and then. then i put the works seals in it, and the whistle was extremely loud and the throttle was extremely stiff, to the point that it would get stuck open. so the TB was replaced with another 65mm TB and now it still whistles a bit and creeps the idle every now and then. i guess i will pressure test and see ifs a leak in the TB causing the whistle or just air passing inside. If it is just a sound with no effects i will just live with it. it makes noise but the car is stilling ripping.

I can't see the seals causing a whistle unless they were leaking. Air has to pass by or thru something to create a noise. I can't see a seal doing that. BUT, I can see an unmatched TB gasket doing it. If its hanging over the edge of now larger TB inlet... it will create a reed effect as the air passes around it. This could be causing it.

Pure conjecture tho.

I had a DSM TB which I sent out for new seals once. They were jammed in so it would seal against ALOT of boost. They used a shimmed o-ring style seal instead of the typical injector support seal typically used in TB's. It was absolutely dreadful to snap the throttle open. It was stiff, hung... cold forget it. You have to break it in almost. I sat in the car jamming the pedal to the floor probably 1200 times. That finally solved it sticking. But still felt heavy compared to before.

Sealed like a **** tho!

I wanted to bump this issue and mine is doing the same. Almost sounds like a grounding problem or an electrical whine from an alternator? Only happens with I crack the throttle and gets louder as the turbo starts to push more air. Any fix suggestions?

Bump...any solution? I just installed a ported tb and it whistles also. The only thing I can think of is the gasket. On the IM side, it's perfect, matches up nice. But on the TB side, I noticed it matches the top but towards the bottom there's a dip with a hole( don't know what it's for, didn't really check it) and the gasket kinda sticks up above that. If te gasket was opened up to match it it wouldn't be a perfect 65mm circle. So I'm guessing as air goes down towards the dip, then comes up to go into the intake mani, it causes the gasket to vibrate causing the whistle sound.. Almost like when you were a kid and stuck a blade of grass in-between your thumbs and blew on it to make it whistle.

Any solution or ideas? I can live with the whistle but it's kind of annoying. I'll do a little more searching but if anyone can recommend something I'd appreciate it.

It depends on the manufacturer of the TB. With a MIL.SPEC TB, you should not experience any whistle. If you do, please contact Aby and we will fix the problem.
