$30K Cad into the car.

I live in Canada, and I highly value AWD, besides I like to have fun all seasons.
Pump gas, but I like to use alky injection as well.

Looking for about the same thing out of an EVO:
This time I want a bulletproof set-up that will make 400 whp, but I still want 15 psi by 3k.
I am thinking TS, I like Geoff's stuff.
Like my Suby, I need the car to last 6 years or so.

Obviously with meth I can use a smaller turbo then the OP to acheive whp goals, thus spooling better.

I would own an Audi RS4, but it is soo frigging heavy and slow. I would consider a used 911 turbo, but I need a 4 door.

What are your guys suggestions?
You have to remember you're working with a half liter more - it doesn't sound like a lot, but it is. Where as my twin scroll $7000 kit is full spool or near it at 4000rpm, Rich's STi (Perrin GT3063R, fuel kit, TGV deletes, Perrin front mount) spools even faster than that and it's a single scroll, and has about five feet more piping than the F-R kit.

I think an FP Green for your EVO from what people have said here and posted dyno graphs.

turbo: $6863.00

pump: $109.95
inj.'s: $340.00
rail: $174.95
cat: $194.95
catback: $624.95

$14205.80

That price doesn't even include head gasket, etc. all the small items you know I'm going to need. Suspension, axles, gauges, wideband, dyno tune, shifter, motor mounts, bushings, anything that breaks, safety equipment to run that time, etc.

That is actually A LOT cheaper than I thought it would be. I know that number sounds retarted, but you all know how it is, you usually get one or two of the big things once or twice a year, and the small stuff piecemeal, you find deals, etc. When I did my Probe (the SIXTH time...), it was well over $30,000 into a $3000 (at best) car, and that was with most of the pieces being fabricated by myself. Cars are stupid expensive, but if you just take it one piece at a time, you trick yourself into forgetting how much money you waste.

i'm sorry but i just think this is a really poorly executed build. its like your shooting from the hip with thousand dollar bills. granted many of the parts are awsome, few of them are actually needed. especially for a target of only 400whp.

to reach your goal of 400whp and 400ftlb of torque, and very quick spool, the evo green IS the turbo you want. its not going to have the top end that the 3076 will have (it will definitely be close though), but you'll have 500rpm quicker spool and a great deal more torque.

to reach your goal this is what i would do:

evo green (new) 1800
ported coated stock manifold 220
stainless o2 housing = 100
walbro fuel pump = 75
injectors = 300
cams (272/272 w/gears) (using your price) = 1050
TBE with high flow cat = 800
intake/intercooler pipes = 400
EBC = 340
clutch: $1650.00
custom tune = 300

total: 7035 and even that is on the high side... cams can be had for half that (gears are not needed sense the green will get you the spool you want), clutches you can use an ACT for half that price and it will be more stock like.
axles are definitely not going to be needed at that power range.... nor is a fuel rail.

if your building a show car thats one thing, but if you want a easy to drive 400whp evo, make it simple instead of building things for a 600+whp evo thats only going to run 400whp. if you think you'll want a bigger turbo later on, then your on the right track though, and sense your spending the money now, just get the bigger turbo to begin with.

that was a good one

the car will see some car shows, a lot of customer display and test drivers, mostly daily driving, and a good amount of non-competitive road course/autocross. my intention with this build is to throw money at it - seriously. I've done the bang/buck builds, this thing is shooting big names and big $$$ to make the cover of a magazine.

I know some find it wasteful, and it is - but they need a self-examination. Owning an EVO is, in of itself, a waste. You could get from place to place with a 84 metro, or walking.

I am still new here, so forgive any noobness.

It looks life the green hits 15 psi by 3500 rpm, even the OEM turbo hits it after 3000 rpm. That is from this thread. https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...+35r+30r+green

I want 3K.

Can I do this with a TS, albeit a smaller one then the GT30 Full-race offers?

I'm not sure anything TS is offered below a 30R, or that your goals are possible on a 2.0. As much as like spool, that's going to be rediculous. Any turbo you pick that will do that is going to run out of steam past 5K, why do that to a car that could be taken out to/past 8?

Your car is completely different with spool characteristics. Even on your 2.5 liters you spool slow than us. Your turbo manifold with the long up pipe produces a hurting. The green is also a single scroll for your car and ours is a twin. That is why the price is much higher.

I hit 15 psi right now at 3000 rpm. And 15 psi on a 2.5 is more power then 15 psi on a 2.0.

I know I lose lots of spool due to the long exhaust manifold. But I don't think you can get a non-stroked EVO to get my spool with 340 whp.

That is why I was exploring the whole TS thing.

I may just get the new STI in a year or so. I will have to see.
