If you're running stock ecu try to keep it a 3'' intake. It'll make life easier for your tuner.

i would never use any intake pipe that would be used with the stock turbo unless it is at least 3" in diameter all the way to the inlet. Otherwise thats a serious bottle neck. When i was on my 3076r i had both a 3" and a 4" intake that i made for it. I personally could tell a differnce between the two in terms of flow. Also if you have antisurge compressor housing and you use the 3" intake the reducer you must use to couple the intake pipe and the turbo inlet will block the ports and cause surge for a quick second between shifts. I tested and tested as far as power and power curve with the 3" vs the 4" but when it came down to it my 4" touched the lower radiator hose so i stayed with the perfect fitting 3". If all else fails hit me up with a pm and ill weld one up for you in mild steel and paint it whatever color u like.

very nice info joosdawg ill def let u know im hoping to get everything i need for the car a little after x-mas beggining of jan

so i mite take u up on that offer..

i wanted to get ppls insight on it so i know which way to go...

so far this is wat i got for plans...

my current setup is this

Perrin catless turbo-back exhaust
HKS INtake
GSC 272 cams
HKS Cam Gears
SS clutch line
tein s tech springs
Dynoflash

i want to go get a real tune on a dyno for it but i figured ill wait till the 30r comes..

the way i was thinking of going was doing this for my next steps..

AMS FMIC/piping
ACT 6 puck clutch
HPF gt3076r
DNP manifold/ 38mm wastegate
880cc injectors
walbro fuel pump

and obv a tune...but im wondering should i get it flashed first or wait until i have enough money to save for a standalone..

or should i go with halltech or something liek that???

help would be nice guys

another thing i should note in the mod list, DO NOT get the 6 puck clutch! You will regret it. The chatter was so bad on mine it backed out two of the three bolts holding the rear motor mount to the tranny. Snapped the cast piece of the mount in half on a launch, broke an axle... Needless to say i got to the point of i didnt even want to drive the car anymore so i ended up putting a stock 5spd mitsu disc in with the ACT HDSS pressure plate and couldnt be happier. Also leave the restrictor pill in or you may have problems with launching.

As far as a stand alone, with all the capabilities of the stock ecu i personally stayed with that and whole heartedly reccomend that. I bought MaftPro to use specifically to run my car on spped density with a Map sensor and GM temp. That way i could ditch the stock maf and have free roam on intake design and bov to use like tial venting to the air without any ill effects. That and full controll over fuel and timing was the main thing i ever wanted a stand alone for in the past. Sense with ecuflash ect you can controll any variable youd ever want, and the tephara mods you can have no lift to shift aswell as a few other goodies, i honestly see no point in going stand alone. Tunability wise, if you want to be able to make adjustments yourself the stock ECU will still have that "save your a$$ mode" which if for some strange reason you really botch a tune trying to up timing for race gas or lean it out you still have the ecu to back you up with knock retard and a very very good system of "not letting you blow your motor" because of it. Whereas with a stand alone, unless your experianced in tuning you have a very high probability of blowing somthing up. That is a great thing for a good tuner as it will do anything and everything that you tell it to do, but on the other hand in terms of going into a novice set of hands that could be your motor in one pull.

DNP manifolds are a great product shouldnt have any problems there. As far as the 38mm wastegate make sure if you go that route that you get an authentic Tial gate or you will be paying in the long run. I cheaped out once and got a turbonetics evolution 38mm wastegate and it boost creeped bad. Also had a buddy with an ebay gate and needless to say the diaphram failed within a year of install.

Dont know what your planning on doing for a downpipe or maybe i didnt read that but if you need any help fabbing a downpipe shoot me a pm aswell as i fabbed my downpipe from ss when i made my kit and it worked great!
