I'm interested in the outcome of this, and what is causing this noise. I've had a similar noise in my IX since it had about 3000 miles on it. I'm now at 25,000 miles (yes, I drive it a lot) and the noise is still there.

I did take it in to the dealer not long after the noise started and their diagnosis was, "If it gets any worse bring it back in. Until then it's nothing major."

I took my 9 in yesterday to the dealer for the same issue, sounded just like it does in the clip you provided. I told them it may be the pulley tensioner and the service person told me that they have been having evo 9s come in with that same problem issue. But, of course while I was their for 2 hours my car wouldn't make the noise.

I believe that it takes a while of driving to get the noise to start. Maybe the heat causes something t metal to expand and start rubbing against something else. Either way they told me to bring it in if it starts making that noise again, which it did today after driving home from san diego, which is a 2 hour trip in traffic.

It seems like that always happens when you take it to the dealer, the sound just goes away.

has anyone checked the cause of this problem yet?
I believe its the pulley on top of the crank pulley that works with the accessory belts. Could I be wrong?
