Quartermaster or exedy twin disc clutch?
Quartermaster or exedy twin disc clutch?
Was looking to get some input from you guys. I am looking to upgrade my clutch and am debating between an exedy twin disc or a quartermaster. Thanks in advance for your opinions.
Quartermaster 100% last clutch you will ever need. I have had one in my old black 03 evo and my 2g dsm. Loved them and I am getting another one in my silver 03 EVO very soon. Awesome clutch and pedal effort, well there is none. It has a hydraulic throw out bearing.
However, Quartermasters chatter a lot and some people say they aren't "streetable" but give it a day or two to get used to it and you will love it.

Quarter master has no center cushion springs because it is a push style clutch. I have this clutch in my car for about two years now i love the way it drives i believe it is very streetable just takes some getting used to. Racing with this clutch is awesome but its terrible because ive had to rebuild this clutch about 5 times already with about ten to fifteen passes on each rebuild and about 4 to 7 thousand miles. Other than the rebuilding it being a pain it is a decent clutch that def holds power well and is very forgiving to your drivetrain! Chatter is very very bad!
I have the twin and my bro has the quartermaster. I like my twin and he likes his, you cant go wrong with both. I think the quartermaster disc is a little thicker than the twin.
EXEDY FOR SURE......AND BUY MINE FOR A DEAL!!!! http://denver.craigslist.org/pts/504239044.html

I have Quartermaster Twin from DEVO Tuning and mine will last me an entire summer and then some winter.
***Keep in mind I race the car every Friday and Saturday averaging about 3 launches per night. Because people know me on this forum lets just say I'm a bit more than stock
so I know it's not because of my power that my clutch lasts that long. I totally believe it's the way you drive it that matters most.. you are probably burning it way too much. And who ever said that it's not Streetable is crazy..
That's exactly why this clutch kicks so much ***.. The pedal is so soft and easy on your calf it's just as soft if not even softer than STOCK.. Which helps making quicker, faster and reduces the chances of you making a mistake.
I've driven my friend's evo who has a Exedy Twin and I also like the way the clutch engages.. They are pretty much the same with only one exception.. Pedal Feel.
The Exedy is very stiff and hard.. It is harder to daily drive it especially in traffic. Alot of people use it because AMS supports it while Devo Tuning which is a smaller company is the only Provider of Quartermaster.
The cost is the about the same.. You can't go wrong with either brand for performance but if you're looking for something more comfortable for daily Driving.. Go with Quartermaster.
