No Boost in lower gears

I have searched and read quite a few posts on boost issues, I don't post alot so here goes.

Mods: K&N drop in, Apex-i WSII catback and XS flash.

Issue: In 1st and 2nd gear I am barely getting any boost even when I get into higher RPMs. Maybe 5-7 psi max. unless WOT, even then maybe 10-12 max?

In 3-5th gear seems to spool and hit 18-19 psi in a normal manner.

I do not have a boost controller at all. I did a visual for any loose hoses, and exhaust leak and do not see any evidence.

Input appreciated.

lower gears = less load

less load = less boost

10-12 in first is pretty normal at wot

Only 10-12 psi in first? I get 21psi in 1st and 2nd. and 22.5 in 3rd onwards. I have logs if anyone is interested. I haven't touched the boost/vacuum lines.

Keep in mind also that if you do a wot pull from 5-7k rpms or higher, boost will be a lot less than if you nail the gas pedal at 2500-3000 rpms. Youre always gona get less boost in lower gears, specially 1st due to the load..Get yourself a mbc

Cat converter on the car? If so how old? It may be clogged.

still should be no excuse to have 5-7 psi at WOT in high revs in first gear..........weird though. make sure all your vacuum lines are still connected. A MBC wouldnt hurt either

are you kidding? if you spin your boost is going to spike like crazy.

Go into a field with grass and mash it and tell me if your boost loads while spinning :P
