Choosing turbos TME vrs Evo 9
I know that a thread like this is brought up over and over again but I wanted to see if I could get anymore up to date info. I'm looking at picking up either turbo, my car is daily driver for now but during the spring and summer I like to get it out and race it. I know that with the TME I'm looking at a quicker spool but less top end, with the evo 9 I'm looking at less bottom end but more top end. Or at least that is what I'm lead to believe. As a way for future mods I'm not looking at much, downpipe, fuel pump, larger FMIC and maybe a set of 272s. I know that the cams sound a little excessive but a friend of mine might be selling his so I can pick them up for a decent price.
In anycase, with those 272s in mind would it be useless to have a a TME and should I just go to the evo 9 ? I'm just a little lost in what I should do.
Thanks!

Just buy the IX turbo and then send it to either Forced Performance, or Blouche Turbos and have them fit the Titanium-Aluminide turbine wheel from a TME turbo onto the shaft in place of the stock Inconel turbine wheel. This way you'll have the same lower rotational mass of a TME turbo as well as the increased flow of the IX turbo's improved compressor housing design.

I was thinking about the FP Green but I wanted something different. There are a few other guys around stl that are getting they're Greens and I just didn't wanted to be a follower I wanted to be an innovator. lol
Sure, Blouche Turbo has a website. They are a top flight outfit and have a VSR machine to balance your modified rotating assembly . Good luck! It should work just fine with the HKS 272's, the GSC's, or an HKS 272/264 combo, and a set of adjustable cam gears. It'll spool like a banshee with the HKS cams set at +1/-1.

i was looking to send an evo9 turbo to blouch before i found a sweet deal on a 20g, let us know your results. and the cams are far from overkill, you;ll be very happy you installed them.

Blouch does good work. Really good turn around too. I had them rebuild the T25 that's in my Mirage. I dropped it off and it was finished and shipped back to me within 2 days

a 9 will make more power than the tme....if your considering the tme, that suggests to me, you favor transient response.....
you give up transient response between 2600-3600 for more top end power tme > evo 9 > fp-grn
i never had a evo 9 turbo in my car, but i did go from a tme to a fp-grn.... i make a helll of a lot more power, based off of calculated aem whp data, but i also gave up some transient repsonse....once above 4k, it's no contest, the fp-grn will just leave the tme.....all my tesating has been on punk gas = california's 91 octane.
choice depends on what your after.....
