2003 Mitsubishi Lancer OZ Rally question.

Hello, I'm new to the forums and so far very impressed with the community. Nevertheless, onto my question.

I own a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer OZ Rally 5 SPD, I was curious, because of hearsay, if I could find a used lancer evo stock turbo, and put it on my car easily.

I found one for around $400.00 on E-bay motors and thought that would work.

I don't have any performance parts on it, and I would like to start out with a turbo, or am I jumping the gun and I should start out with something different, such as a cold air intake, or exhaust, or what do you guys think I should do first?

I appreciate the assistance in advance.

Hope ot hear something soon!

Well if you plan on going turbo, I'd start with suspension. Building a strong foundation is more important than going fast for our slow-z rally editions.

And you'll need a lot more than just a turbo. You'll need a turbo manifold, injectors, downpipe, custom exhaust, intercooler (if you go intercooled, which is always suggestions), intercooler piping, fuel management, fuel pump...

And thats just if you want the basics. I'd say put a good suspension, some stabilizers, and be ready to spend at least $4,000 on the turbo setup. Not to mention tuning for the new setup.

You're looking at spending a lot of money

Not Good.

I knew it wouldn't be cheap to get speed. Hmm... maybe I should just go for looks instead .

I had no idea that it required so much work, I mean I put a "turbowhirl" in my honda, which only boosted it about 10hp, which I'll probably throw in the lancer shortly here. That's just.. wow. So, putting a turbo in the car isn't just "putting a turbo in the car" it involves so much more?

Interesting.

I appreciate the reply, anymore information of where to shop, look, price things out, would be greatly appreciated too.

LOL. It's garbaged then. I also have a "Mod chip" for my honda, which all that does is induce how much fuel is put into the car, herefore giving it more HP/Torque, but nevertheless, worthless. I threw that away too.

I'll look at that site and see what I can come across. here's a picture of my car, so I sort of have a headstart on the looks thing....
