Once you've installed the WGA onto the compresssor housing via the 2 mounting bracket bolts, then loosen the backup nut located behind the turnbuckle(eyelet) on the end of the threaded actuator rod. Rotate the turnbuckle until the eyelet freely slides on and off the peg on the wastegate puck's pivot arm. Now give the turnbuckle three full 360* rotations clockwise effectively shortening the overall length of the actuator rod. Reinstall the actuator rod onto the pivot arm by slipping the eyelet over the pin and retighten the backup nut and install the cotter pin.

the eyelet is female and the actuator rod is male. both are threaded. it cant slide freely.
this is what the actuator looks like. it must be different from the fp. i wish i had my cam so i could take a pic of the eyelet and nut.

As "sparky" said, you need to TURN/ROTATE the turnbuckle eyelet on the rod end to adjust it (shorten/lengthen). It does not slide.

ok so which does what? shortening tensions the spring and lengthening relieves tension?

Yes, shortening increases tension(preload). It keeps the flapper valve on its seat longer. Thus exhaust gas flow stays channeled within the turbine housing acting upon the turbine blades and improving turrbine wheel speed.

Lengthening the actuator rod allows the flapper valve to lift earlier, venting exhaust gas flow out through the turbine housing's wastegate bypass port. This bleeding off of exhaust gas flow causes the turbine wheel to slowdown.
