This is how DSM's got a bad rep. People buy the cars second or third hand after some spoiled overprivledged kid or ignorant fast and the furious wanna be beats the **** out of the car and then the people that buy them used end up paying the price and all the sudden these cars are deemed "unreliable" when in reality they're not undestructable.

If you paid $6k for a tranny rebuild and t-case rebuild then you overpaid. I'm guessing since you meantioned shep you spent about $2k on both, if you paid $4k for labor find a new shop or learn to do it yourself.

if his transfercase went out on him, hes either buying a new one (2500+) or at leasting buying sheps replacement ring and pinion with a rebuild (still close to 2000). thats just the transfercase...

Also dude, ive read the exedy will sometimes slip when it gets real hot. I mean, i was on my car repeatingly on the highway for a couple miles... and I noticed the clutch slip a little a couple of times. Well...that was over 2,000 miles ago & its still holding perfectly fine. I heard the plates get heated up so it causes them to slip.
