Tcase bad or something else?

I am getting the death whine, or at least it sounds a lot like it.

basically, I went into a new dealership for maintenance since the old one closed down.

Now, after my 30k maintenance where I get all my fluids changed and paid like $600

So now 3 weeks later, I don't drive my car that much, only on weekends.

I start to hear this whine........

I'm getting this whine with part throttle in 3rd or 2nd sometimes and 3k RPM.

Now another thing,

when I go WOT in any gear and redline say in 1st or 2nd or 3rd it would rev normally but once it gets to about near redline it will make the distinct weird noise from the engine. Kinda sounds like a louder Vtec kinda sound. But it doesn't sound normal. ANy ideas?

Im thinking either my Tcase is bad, since the whine, or can it be something else.

The guy at the dealership said my car was in good shape but now its got alot problems.

My gut feeling tells me this new dealership messed something up with the fluids at the last service, but I have no proof.

I am looking for advise on what you guys would do or what you think it might be.

My mods: Full exhaust, works filter, hks cams, MBC, fuel pump and Tune

would not filling the fluid cause these horrible noises?

I am going to call the dealership and schedule an appointment.

This is going to be a ***** I already know it.

Hopefully they can find out what is wrong with out charging me an arm

any thoughts what the weird vtech sound can be?

i had the same problem, chances are that they forgot to fill fluid in transfer case, dont be driving the car to much, i had the death wine, and then on my way to the dealer, the car would barely move and a huge bang bang bang bang would come from tranny. Its prob ur t-case, but those are so much. It was their fault they didnt put in the fluid. Make them pay for it.

I made an appt. for next Monday. Hopefully they can find the problem and not give me any trouble.

What is it with dealers? If it really is that they forgot to fill the fluid, how pathetic is it that I can't even trust my own dealership to do a simple maintenance service??

I love the evo but this **** is bit ridiculous.

I will baby the car all the way to the dealer, hopefully I didn't mess it up too bad while i was redlining to make sure I had a problem.....and wasn't just buggin.....mb that was a bad idea.

They could have also put the wrong fluid in and if thats the case good luck getting it warrantied because they may put the blame on you.

Sigh...

so the dealership has confirmed that its indeed the T-case that is broken.

Of course its not under warranty since I have " boost controller and some other things"

They charging me 100 bucks just to look at it, and quoted me like approx. $4,000 to fix the T-case.

my mods: Full exhaust, MBC, HKS cams, fuel pump, Works drop in filter.

Now I'm thinking my best bet is to put the car back to stock and take it to another dealership and get warranty there? What do you guys think?

To what extent should i Un mod? since they can't see the Cams and fuel pump or drop in filter on the exterior, should I still put those back to stock?

I am extremely upset this happened to my car since I only drive it on the weekends so this blows.

The guy at the dealer has the nerve to tell me.
" all the fluids were perfect, you probably broke it since u told me u redline"

What a ****ing dick head

any advice or ideas on what I should do would be helpful!!

@ 4k for a replacement t-case, i would consider buying a used t-case from a totalled evo (look on ebay, there are some).

OR,

take the car to some other dealer, sell, or privately trade the car. mention nothing, and allow the buyers to drive the car. if they don't mention it, that's their problem. not really ethical, but, your in between a rock and hard place right now.

after selling it, put the 4k down on a new EVO/ car. take it as lesson learned.

i would suggest that you figure out if the warranty will cover you. there are certain things that may be done to a vehicle without voiding the warranty. As far as the mods you have, dealerships are picky and a boost guage will make them say that the car is out of warranty. take it to another one and see what happens.

If worse comes to worse...Shep Transfer Case is the way to go.
