Timing belt cost??

Alright guys i need a little input from ya. First i am gonna get some HKS 272's for my ride (GREAT), i was recommended that i buy some ARP headstuds since the top will be off anyway (WONDERFULL i'll do it), also recommended was a timing belt for precautionary measures (sure ok i'll do it) , then because i am not in the area of where i am buying these parts from i was recommended to a service shop near me (ok). So i call the service shop and they tell me they charge $85/hr (ok) but then they tell me that changing the timing belt (because it is in a "Funny" area) will take 6 hours WTF .....is that right ? 6 hours for a timing belt ?

There's a "How To" on changing a Timing Belt, take a look and decide for yourself. Personaly, I think it would be easier to pull the Motor and save the headache.

stock one is fine unless your car has many miles on it (>60k miles). Also, while you're at it, take a look and feel the timing bell to see if there's any bad sign.

how many miles on the timing belt? Factory recommends changing at 60k miles. If you're nowhere near close to that mileage, I'd leave the timing belt alone.

It's not easier to pull the motor then change the belt vs. changing the belt when it's in the car.

Man i only have about 15K on my car (it is a 2005) and it doesn't get mushed to 7K very often at all, so i would say that it is fine but then again that is just a guess.

On all other Japanese cars i've owned, I've done my own timing belt. On those vehicle it was recommended to replace the water pump at the same time because you're already in there, might as well do it. Is this true for the EVO? Does anyone know the cost of Timing belt AND waterpump service at the dealership? Thanks.
