Does Walbro 255 LHP needs an installation kit for EVO 8?

I have seen some Walbro fuel pumps for the evo that includes one GSS342 255 LPH Fuel Pump and one 400-847 installation kit. Others says that for the EVO there is no kit required.

Is a kit required to install a Walbro GSS342 255 LPH Fuel Pump on an EVO 8?

you do not need a kit to install the walbro, you will reuse everything from the stock pump, I think the only thing is the filter. It has been a while since i did that mod.

the install kit comes with a new sock....i would probably make sure a new pump has a new sock attached and the install kit isnt that much.

the install kit is $12...i would rather invest this amount and have perfectly working fuel delivery and filteration.

the install kit is cheap insurance to have a new filter. Also, the isolator in the kit was much thicker...almost double the stock one. Keeps the pump in there nice and snug. there was a small difference in the body from the stock to than walbro, very slightly.... I just did the install on 2/23. Not sure if the slight difference causes the need for the thicker isolator but i used the new one to make sure. it was easy and fast. I'm sure taking the small filter retainer ring off would be a slight pain and it would suck to break that and have nothing to put on and no car....

I have done hundreds of walbro installs - once in a while you find one for what ever reason sits loose in the housing and needs the thicker isolater bushing on the bottom to hold the pump up snug into the upper gromet
