What exactly would it do to his motor anyway? Surely, it can't be as detrimental as the awful 91 octane pump gas available on the West Coast.

I ran 130 LL in my my turbocharged BMW for years without any detrimental effects resulting to the engine. The O2 sensor will eventually tend to degrade quicker with a narrowing of its operational range and slower response time.

The sensor can be cleaned(no chemicals) with a brush and will still give decent service life. I would run one O2 sensor for daily driving and swap in another "clean" one for race days.

AvGas is refined from a much higher quality petroleum base stock than the 87-91 octane automotive pump gas is. Furthermore the combustion characteristics of AvGas are far more predictable and stable than automotive pump gas.

There are differences in the fuel's specific gravity, oxigenation and density because of the designed use for higher altitude and lower air temps. But these differences are overplayed. 130LL AvGas is way superior to the 91 octane schlock that you pump into your car everyday.

Wow that serious man - 2-3 weeks

We use it on a lot of cars here in SA, its suppose to be 99.5MON which is more than most other fuels availble to us and easier to come by...

We replace an O2 anywhere from 20-50,000miles

What milage did your car have when you started using AVGAS?

ps. O2's do fail here anyway even without the Use of AVGAS due to the quality of our pump fuels... Best is to mix it 50:50 with Unleaded...

.
