Gas stations

Is there any harm from switching between different gas stations? I know that shell has their "nitrogen enchanced" (92 oct.) gas and Chevron has the "techron" nonsense (92oct.). I know that its just a bunch of hype but I am just curious to see if anyone has experienced anything bad.

I personally have been only running Shell gasoline just because they have separate pumps for each octane. It's also a popular station, so they will have fresh gas more often.

Not all Shells have separate pumps. I prefer to go to ones that do, but I have been to a few that have a single pump for all 3 octanes.

Anyone know how much fuel the tube holds? I've always been annoyed that Im getting X amount of reg diluting my premium, but never really bothered to look into how much..

Guess I should look for a station with 3 pumps.
Just make some guestimations off the little research I did. If the hose I.D is 5/8s and theirs ~12ft between the gun and what ever is switching the fuel, then their is only .2gal.
With 87 being min, and 91 as premium (what I can only find in portland), over 10 gallons it drops the oct to 90.9... NBD.

Very good point. Unless it gets vacuumed out somehow between pumping.
Each brand puts their own additives in their fuel. Usually shell or wawa for me.

I've wondered this also. I'm sure its such a minimal amount that it wont matter but I believe its still worth it to get a separate pump.

Theres a couple stations here in town that are known for having the cheapest gas. I'm sure they just buy the gas from anyone who is selling it the cheapest. I know to avoid those like the plague.

Thee shouldn't be any harm. Just a bit of info tho, almost all cars recommend to use a top tier gas and the only company that is considered to tier is shell. At least to my knowledge.

Why would you wanna switch gas stations? Shell is the best in my book too.

Shell doesn't even stock 93 out here, only BP's and Pilots. You would think next to a major military installation where everyone and their cousin drives a stupid powerful car it would be a no brainer, but no, it's rocket science.

I've notice a difference in my car after I used Texaco a few years back. I only use Shell now.

I think you guys are worrying over nothing. I think generally all gas brands are basically the same within the same octane. Unless you are talking about gas with 10% ethanol vs gas with no ethanol if you can find it.

And how do you know that 91 octane is 91 to start with? Is it 91.1, 90.8 to start with?

Just my opinion.
