again if the 8 head doesnt work on the 9 bottom then the 9 bottom is different.. I dont recall the difference but i had a 9 bottom and verified it would not work with an 8 head.. so that would mean they are different.. if the 8 and 9 bottom were the same then the 8 head wouldwork on it..

the 8-9 blocks are different. But an 8 block can be turned into a 9 block with a skilled machine man. DTM has done this on a couple of occasion... I don't know the specifics but you'd have to contact them if you were looking to do this.

There is almost NO difference with the construction of the nine block in comparison to the 8 block. ONLY ONE difference....The nine has a large eye bolt orifice to provide constant volume and pressure to the MIVEC system. It can either be capped and used on an 8 head or an 8 block can be tapped and used for the nine head. Extremely simple. We built the first 2.4 MIVEC EVO 9 this way.

I have been looking on both motor and from what I have understand, they are the same. The only difference is that the 9 block have hole to supplied oil to the head(mivec), so if a 8 head is going to this 9 block you should seal this hole and that's it.
