Tranny recall?

My friend told me about a recall on the 2003 evo 8s and i was wondering if anyone heard the same. please let me know. I dont drive the car all crazy at all but i noticed that when i try to get in 3rd gear there is some very minor resistance. i can't explain it, its only in that gear.

How old is your clutch? Have you tried adjusting the pedal? Does this happen when the car is cold or warmed up? No recalls on the tranny bc if they did that mitsu would have a heart attack from all of the cars they would have to fix for free.

Thats how Evo trannies are.

You basically get locked out of gear. Never force it in thats how you mess it up. I had to get mine rebuilt from a local tuner. The damn thing feels notchy as hell and in cold weather it doesn't like going into gear.

"Thats how Evo trannies are" What are you talking about they dont just get tough to shift out of nowhere. The only time this happens is when the tranny is totally cold and you dont let the car warm up properly and it will be tough.

But to the OP, does this happen when the car is fully warmed up or not? 23k on an original clutch may be time for a new one, when you need a new one the tranny will do what you are explaining, so if this is the case stay off the boost until you can get the new clutch and put it in to save the life of the clutch you got in it now.

Yes, Evo trannies are "notchy" which is normal, but a "lock out" feeling isnt normal... To ANYONE that is having this problem spend a couple of minutes letting the car warm up before attempting to go anywhere, i sit in my car for almost 3-4 minutes before I drive it (im in south florida so this doesnt take too long) longer if you are in colder climates. Then when you do take off make sure you are shifting slow until the tranny warms up signifigantly and you shouldnt have this problem and wont have to replace stuff from breaking it like a dumba$$

Theres a big difference from a Evo with a 6speed and a Evo with a 5speed. The MR's are much smoother and easier to get into gear.

Your 5spd or the 5spds you have driven must be beat to living hell, you obviously rip on your car if you have had to have a rebuild.

I have driven plenty of 5spds and I own an MR and there isnt a huge difference. I have driven a 5spd that has a TON of launches on it and it wasnt tough either.

I think that it is a type of lock out feel a very small one. and when i put it into 3rd gear i feel a slight tap back once and a while. i might have to check out that TSB though. Does my car have to be in warranty still?

He didnt mention any type of grinding, so this doesnt look like the problem, or to the OP do you get grinding? Again sirevo8lancealot, does this happen when the tranny is warm or not? If so then it sounds like a worn clutch which will cause a "lock out"...

Im aware he didnt mention a grind. His friend mentioned a recall...I was noting there are no recalls -- only a TSB. Regardless of the problem, I was trying to clear up the statement he had heard from his friend.
