EvoM & Ebay = 500WHP for less than $4000 with built engine!
About the ugliest engine bay.. I've seen.. lol but nice numbers.. despite what you spent..! You just proved that you hold a nice power to dollar ratio that's all.. nothing to show claim about.. but whatever makes people happy.. right??

Great job on the beast Ed, your hard work has paid off. This car has show and enough go to take care of business
Cant wait till the track opens up to see what she does, sick daily driver.
WOW. Nice power to dollar ratio IS something to "show claim" about. I guess you think we should all like an respect your car more than his because you spent more and have less power than him, but hey, supposedly your engine bay is better looking. You get absolutely no respect from me...
yeah, good work. The Evo was made to be fast and inexpensive and you taken that to the next level. Anyone can add all the pretty bits they want, but all I ever wanted out of mine was fast, low cost and invisible.

Thanks for the support guys. I agree. Braging about off the shelf JDM parts that you bolted up is lame. Not that there is anything wrong with nice looking parts, but all it shows is that you are not afraid to spend money. Getting your hands dirty and doing something unique is what gets my respect. I wear a suit and tie to work everyday yet my hands look like those of a diesel mechanic. Cuts, grease under my nails. and a lot of burns and bruises prove that all my free time has been spent learning how to tig weld, fabricate ,and generally bring the evo to where it is today. I have no problem saying that I am proud of that.
I just pre fit my parts today and the manifold/downpipe fit flawless without any extreme mod except smoothing out the holes and loose metal flakes and welding left around. I'll have my on the road probably 1-2 weeks and have some track times on a simular set up just not as extreme.

If you have the same manifold, be careful about the WG flange. Although it looks like a tial will bolt up to it, it will not tighten down correctly and it will leak. I found out the hard way as have others. Best bet is to cut it off and weld on a tial flange. If you are runnning the cheapo SS chrome WG, then it will mate fine. You may also want to weld a brace to the WG flange and bolt it to the block. This is where they known to crack. We have done a lot of testing on these and found the weak points. FWIW we have a shop car that went 9.8 @ 143 MPH with this manifold so it is definitly able to handle the power. Were you able to bolt the DP to the turbo with no problems. That would surprise me. How about the clearence to the oil pan. I found that to be a problem as well.
it bolted to the turbo fine. BUT i did have issue's with the a/c line i had to tap it with a rubber mallet to move it some so it would fit without rubbing. As far as the WG i am cutting it off tomorrow and welding my 38mm wastegate flange on it since i had a dumptube for a 38mm and it was cheaper
. I just see an problem of where to angle the wastegate. for radiator/ ac clearance.
