Turbo advice and other mods
Time has changed from a post I made way back in the middle of last year. I have heard good and bad things about the Evo 8 TME 20g 10.5 turbo. What are the pros and cons with this turbo. I want to do an upgrade but I also want a turbo that mounts with the stock manifold. What do you guys suggest?
Ive looked at the green but money isn't right cause I still have other mods I want to get such as Snow performance meth inj, cams, cam gears, injectors, port/coat stock manifold or megan manifold but heard those are good and are crap. Also I heard to get good numbers out of the green you would have to push alot of boost.
I'm looking to go about 350-375. It's a daily driver. I would like you guys input on the turbo, manifold and what not.

The green and my other stock parts would be fine without meth, cams, cam gears, ported manifold and so on? I would end up spending 1900 well 2050 on the green with coating, wastegate and install kit for the evo 8.
What are S1's?
Also the evo 9 turbo, the evo 9 20g turbo and the evo 8 TME 20g turbo are all in the same price ($800-1100) Which one would be best? I know if I get any Evo9 turbo I would nee the install kit for it because mine is an 8.

1) There are NO GOOD THINGS about any 20g-8s. I don't know where you got that idea or how this thought even entered your mind. No one uses a 20g-8 - it's a piece of crap.
2) Stock turbos can make this power easily - not sure why you're trying to upgrade. You can do it on an VIII or IX stock turbo, but of course the IX does it more easily and can make even more power than you're hoping for.
3) The Green is a 20g-9, so don't get confused. Any 20g-9 that is NOT the Green is outdated and not worth much, if anything.
4) A stock IX turbo doesn't cost nearly that much. You can get one used from another IX for $400-500 shipped. I got mine for $450 shipped, and that INCLUDED the stock bits needed for the conversion.
5) As it stands now, your car is a concoction of terrible, overpriced, useless mods (mostly), so you already could be at your desired power level for the money spent to date. I don't know why you'd spend all the money to mess up your car but aren't willing to spend money now to get more power with proper mods. That's a very strange approach to modding...

With all respect, you sound like a bit of an ...... I'm asking for opinions. I want to upgrade my turbo cause I got it dyno tuned again last week and in sept i was pushing about 315 and now it dropped to 300. They said my turbo could be slowly going out or losing power or whatever.
I know the green is the evo9 turbo built. Its the 20g 9lt.
I would like to build on a new turbo but I want to buy other mods too. I'm not going all out cause I have other expenses too

Excellent combination of parts and mods,
Don't let anyone tell you different.
Only thing bad (I think your Invidia O2 schould be changed to a Buschur unit)
All is missing is a 20G-LT aka Green Turbo,
.And a set of HKS Cams.
Have fun!

If you still have your stock 9.8 hotside, just re-vamp your whole turbo-system with:
IX turbo w/ stock 10.5 hotside. Gasket-match the turbine inlets via porting.
BR coated SS o2 housing
BR proted & coated exhaust manifold
You'll spend around $700-800, and be up 35whp or so. Do yourself and get some cams already though, they're one of the biggest bang/buck you can get on a VIII. HKS 280's are the way to go IMHO, I picked up 50+whp in some areas and 35whp peak. Install all this and get a re-tune. You'll be happy!

Judging by your mod list, you could've saved enough money to buy a green and get to the power levels you want. You have so many parts that dont do anything in terms of power production. So sell them and go get your green. Btw, a IX turbo can easily reach the power levels you desire so why bother upgrading the turbo? You're just going to waste your money on something else you didnt need.
