ok so i read some threads and apparently other peeps have this problem. i tried to take it to the dealership and they told me that they dont wanna mess with my car. is there anyone in the so cal area who can fix this. i definitely don't wanna bring my car to autozone or pep boys. Does anyone know of a dealership who is cool with modified cars and has done this before?

pep boys or autozone will not have the scanner for the SRS systems anyway. it will need to do to the dealership to get it turned off

You will not be able to clear the code with A standard OBDII scanner. You'll need a scanner that can talk to the Mitsu SRS system. Its an expensive program that alot of bodyshops will have installed in thier Snap-on scanners.

Try local bodyshops a dealer will bang you 100+ just to pull the code. Chances are you did one of two things

1. Didnt disconnect the battery while instaling the lights
2. If you did disconnect the battery you disconected the Positive terminal first. For some reason the EVO doesnt like that somtimes and will trip the SRS light. I guess it must see some sort of bad signl in the circuit. Ive seen this happen to a # of EVOs

I bet you unplugged the yellow plug near the headlight. Even if you disconnect the negative side of the battery this will generally make that SRS light come on. Try to find a body shop.

9 out of 10 times that is the cause of the SRS light coming on .

Im not sure if they are the same on the 8s and 9s. On the 8s its the yellow plugs the radiator. If I remember correctly its the ONLY yellow plugs around there and cannot be mistaken for anything else. Yellow plugs mean "don't remove me unless you have an SRS scanner" in evo terms.

Nope, SRS is unrelated to performance.

I'm wondering if you can just unplug the battery terminal and wait a while for it to clear itself after you plug the unplugged cables back in?

Easiest thing to do is just goto an Mitsu dealer, quick and painless
