richevo26, my srs light has been on for a while too and your thread made me look into the 2003 evoviii manual. The srs sytem looks pretty big, it has its own ecu and trouble codes. if you want to pm me your e-mail address i can send you a file of the SRS chapter. unless you know another way for me to post it up.

Mine is also on but that's cause I had an electrical problem and the mechanic was messing with the electrical system although he says that he never touched anything related to the SRS system.

Have you tried disconnecting and connecting again the battery cables???

This will not work even if you leave a battery off for a year. SRS got its own separate computer that got Lithium battery that will last a long time. Your airbags are off right now as long as your SRS light is on.

If your light came on then there is a problem in your SRS system. If your car under warranty then just take it to a dealer and they should take car of it. Automotive shop could reset it if they got Snap-On scanner with Airbag system upgrades. I just reset mine because i had to replaced seat belts.

Maybe Vato-Zone can reset your code for you. I know they scan your car for free when you have a CEL and as long as it is an OBD2.

My wife's VW has the SRS light on as well and the dealership wanted to charge some outrageous amount just to reset the damn thing. They said it would still operate if an accident occurred so I told them no thanks.

Bump. My car sat for the first time in a snow storm. After all the snow melted and I started the car this morning, the SRS light came on. Damn it!

I'll see if it's still on when I come home from work.
