Evo 9 Spark Plug List, Also how to read plugs.
So I needed to get some new plugs for my mostly stock (turbo back and Perrin filter) 9. Oriely's got me the stock NGK ILFR7H ordered and to me in 1 day, and they price matched Rock Auto @ $9.63 a plug vs $12.50 which is what they normally sell them for. Just a little tip to save some money on already expensive plugs.
Hi, since this thread start in 09 , I was wondering if NGk didn't release any new plugs number for the 9. Iridium
I've been using for more then a year bkr8eix(1 step colder)(different then the bpr8ex) plugs which ran perfectly. No misfire, no problem.
The thing is I can't find them mentioned anywhere here and I've been told they are not for the evo 9 as they are shorter then necessary. Anyone else used them? Is this a series that can replace the R7437-8? Any feedback will be highly appreciated as I m about to change my plugs now ? Thanks a lot

definitely the wrong plugs. Im amazed you hadn't had any problems.
A while back I was doing a frantic weekend of work on the evo before a road trip and tune (clutch, flywheel, ic pipe, ported manis, spark plug change, O2 housing ect...) And I ordered the plugs for the 8 off MAPs website. They arn't clear at all on there. I didn't even try them due to the size difference. But I had one cracked stock plug! So I had to put something in... The only right sized plug around was an autolite. Had to tune on it the first time... tuned again a few days later on the correct stock NGKs and made 9 more HP and had less problems. Much smoother with real plugs.
DONT USE AUTOLITES!!!!!
DONT USE AUTOLITES!!!!!
i really had no problems at all with them ... worked perferctly .. from what i understand now i need to retune everything specially AFR for the new plugs... i m gonna use standard OEM plugs that came with the evo 9. should be enough for me since i only have air intake, TBE and a remap with MBC.
Whats the deal with the Denso IKH24? I have an IX with basic mods, TBE, intake, looking to get tuned to around 25 PSI approximately 330-350 WHP. Should I get the Denso 1 step colder or stock NGK?
