How strange.... I just got a new 2.3L block from Slowboy racing and they are strongly suggesting I use NGK BPR8ES. I would think they know what they are talking about.

Those plugs you listed have a 19.05mm reach vs needing a 26.5mm reach.

SO I WILL REPEAT, DO NOT USE THOSE IN YOUR MOTOR!!!

For a Evo 9 head you need to use a Evo 9 plug , for a Evo 8 head, you need to use a Evo 8 plug.

BPR8ES, BR8ES, BPR7ES, BR7ES are Evo 8 plugs

For the 9, Denso IKH24 are a step colder, IKH22 are stock heat range.

what should be done in this post is separate the evo 8 and evo 9 part numbers and list brand, part number, heat range, price

I got in the habbit of looking at the size of the plugs... The hex needs to be 5/8 ... and not 13/16. After that you can look at the length of the plug and electrode portion. But if you go on to the spark plugs.com site and type in the Denso plug number, it gives you a listing of all of the plugs and their heat range. IKH24 is 1 step colder, 27 2 steps etc... Also lists the NGK plugs.

Here is application charts for Evo 8, Evo 9 and Evo 10 spark plugs. I got it from briskracing.com. I have them in my car and they work great. Before I ran the NGK R7437-8 spark plugs and I got tired of paying 140 bucks a set. The one's I bought from Brisk cost less and have already lasted much longer than the NGK's I was using before.

Evo 8 spark plugs:

Stock heat range: Gap @ .024-.026

- BRISK Silver Racing LR14YS is performance upgrade spark plug replacing:

BPR7EIX
BPR7ES
IW22
W22EPR-U

1 step colder (modified applications):

- BRISK Silver Racing LR12YS is performance upgrade spark plug replacing:

BPR8EIX
BPR8ES
IW24
W24EPR-U

1 1/2 step colder:

- BRISK Silver Racing LR12S is performance upgrade spark plug replacing:

BR8EIX
BR8ES

2 step colder:

- BRISK Silver Racing LR10S is a performance upgrade spark plug.

Evo 9 spark plugs:

Stock heat range: Gap @ .024-.026

- BRISK Silver Racing ER14YS is performance upgrade spark plug replacing:

ILFR7H
IKH22

1 step colder:

- BRISK Silver Racing ER12S is performance upgrade spark plug replacing:

NGK - R7437-8

2 step colder:

- BRISK Silver Racing ER10S is performance upgrade spark plug replacing:

NGK - R7437-9

Evo 10 spark plugs:

Stock heat range: Gap @ .020-.022

- BRISK Silver Racing MR12S is performance upgrade spark plug replacing:

NGK - ILKR8E6 - OEM part #1822A021

1 step colder:

- BRISK Silver Racing MR10S is a performance upgrade spark plug.

You would want to run one of those plugs...
