What do you think about SeaFoam?

I have a 2005 Evo 8, with 65k miles. I was thinking about running some seafoam through it, to see if it makes any difference. Have any of you guys tried this? If so, did you find any difference in feel of the car, or performance? If any of you guys don't know what it is, look here Seafoam I have herd a lot of good things about this! I don't know if it would hurt a evo or at that matter any performance car. I'm running a stock evo 8 and its going in to get a new act clutch and act prolight flywheel that's about it! Let me know what you guys think! Most of the miles on the car are from 60 miles a day to work never going above 4000 rpm or over 80 mph and on the weekends a little fun to 6500rpm on a race I try to drive the car easy!

I change oil every 3000 miles I have had it go to 5000 miles on 1 or 2 oil changes do to long trips! And the oil is flushed out every change to get most of the old oil out of the lines!

Thanks
Tim

I've used it, I normally put about half of it in a vaccum line and the rest in the tank. Big puffy clounds of smoke!!!

If you put it in your oil. You can run seafoam through numerous things. I have run it in my oil and intake to clean out the system. I think it does pretty well. My roommate swears by it. If you run it in your oil to clean out the oil system do it for 20 minutes with the car idling before you change the oil. before shutting the car off rev the car a few times.

If you run it in your intake use it sparingly and when you start to see white smoke stop pouring it in. Use about 1/3 of the bottle. Then go beat the crap out of the car. the stuff is great but it can break down rubber gaskets if it sits in there too long.

yeah seafoam is good product but it will water down ur oil too so beating on it isnt what i'd do.... i would just put alil in the fuel tank and through vacuum... rev alittle and let it clear out the carbon buildup then change oil. i would not be beating on it and letting it circulate in the turbo in significant amounts either.

I used it on my DSMs via throttle body/spark plug holes. I didn't get the smoke effect, but I'm guessing my engines were pretty clean. Some of the videos of people using it are just crazy.

I think its a good idea if you want to use it.... just make sure it doesn't sit on anything for very long. If you want to see if it can clean much just pull a spark plug and see if your cylinder looks dirty by shining a flashlight in it (and maybe a dental mirror). If your engine is clean there won't be anything for it to clean out.

You should still change your oil after using it via the intake, the crap it will break off of your cylinder walls will leak past your rings and contaminate the oil. You wouldn't want that stuff clogging up any oil squirters or anything.

I let it suck in through the brake booster. Just make sure there's no seafoam left in the hose because it will eat up the rubber. I love using it then driving down the road. It's like a James Bonds smokescreen. I'd use Marvel Mystery Oil in your oil and Seafoam in your engine/ gas tank.

heard good stuff about it but don't have the b@lls to try it. According to Blackstone labs my engine is in excellent working condition with very little wear for 86k miles. My feeling is that if it ain't broke, why fix it.

im kinda weary about puttin something like that in a high performance engine. thats just me. the only thing ive done was put lucas fuel treatment in my tank to keep the injectors cleaned out.

I hear nothing but good things with the seafoam but personally would worry about destroying a gasket

I did the full treatment at 90k. No problems. I've always used seafoam. When I purchased used cars in the past, it was the first thing I did.

Be careful though, if you run it through a vacuum line into the combustion chambers, all the stuff breaking up and going out the exhaust can contaminate the cat and o2 sensor.

It may be a coincidence, but a few months after using seafoam, I sprung a leak in my intake manifold gasket. I have used in in my wrx and in my mustang without any issues though.
