2.6L EVO - every been done in the usa

Considering someone said these kits are based on the 4G64 (stock 2.4 liter from the post 2000 model year Eclipse), not the 4G63, then 2.6 liter doesn't seem so extreme after all, nor would high RPMs be that questionable.

why is it not extreme?
the 4g64 is a bored 4g63 is it not? as you increase the size, you are thinning the walls and making it weaker.....i think thats right. please correct me if i am wrong, but i think im somewhat on the right track.
and both the 4g64 and 2.4+ size engines shouldnt really go past 8k. the pistons are moving too fast and heat up too quickly, so high RPMs are not good on them.

The 4g64 block has a 86.5mm bore stock. With the 87.5mm bore you are pretty much maxed out. Infact most shops say that they only recommend a 87mm bore on the 64. The main difference is the deck height is 6mm taller then the 63. Besides that they are pretty much the same. No oil squirter's of course but that can be added easy enough. Physical appearance those are the only differences. As far as internal nobody realy knows how the integrity compares to the 63. My only worry is with the cylinder walls being thinner of them cracking easier then the 63. But on the plus side take a 64 block destroke it and you end up with a 88mm stroke and 87mm bore = almost perfectly square engine = lots of revs!

Weren't the old Starion and Conquest motors 2.6? Why is that to much displacement for a 4 cyl? The rev's would be more dependent on the valve train and the rod bolts than the bore and stroke, no? With some quality forged rods and good maching work I would think this type of motor could rev 8K all day. Maybe I will build one. LOL

yeah a brian crower 2.6 stroker kit in a 4g64 block will rev fine. and torque and spool will be very nice and early for the track bud...but you know that already ay barry I saw your block up at Peters place the other week . looking very nioce mate , the porting work he was doing was ...

We are not really too fussed on revs - even though it will still rev to 8k! - i will be reving it same as my current 2.2 which is around 7000rpm
I was going to use my current gt35r but ive changed my mind and it will probably be a t04z
It will all be a bit of a learning curve to start with im sure !
we will test this one , then after that offer them to the public
I will keep you updated with figures etc
SHOCKY - it will definatly give the power !
