I Think My Turbo is going **** up

I have a new high pitched whine when the car is boosting. I have checked all the hoses and found no leaks. The car has 10k daily driven miles and sits in the garage most of the time. How do you tell if the turbo is going south? I dont think its the t case cause everything in the drive train feels fine. Any thoughts?

How can that car give you ANY problems with just 10k on it??

Maybe it wants you to drive it?

Back on topic:

The easiest way to tell about the turbo going bad is to check for a bad oil seal. Unfortunately unless take apart the turbo, it will be hard to diagnosis. One quick way is to let the car sit and idle for about 30 minutes or so (till the cooling fan goes off and on several times). Look at the exhaust and see if there is any blue smoke seeping out of it. Of course that could be other things too.

You may also have an exhaust manifold bolt loose which will cause this whistle noise, but that usually goes away after the car is warm.

Thanks. I think that I am gonna take it a part and look at it. It seems to be driving fine but the new sound is very concerning.

My warranty is just about up so I will take it in. The sound is very high pitched and I can only hear it under boost.

Mine just started to do that too. Sounds like a supercharger kicking in at about 5000rpm. Wonder if its this cold weather? I was thinking maybe a pulley or belt tensioner...thats where my noise seems to be coming from.
