ok, im not mechanically challenged. But i dont want to do it. I dont have a garage and its too cold for me. Plus if i run into a problem i cant have my car down for more than a weekend, so therefore I want to bring it to a shop, get it done, pay for it, and then drive off with it tuned already. If i ask on tips on how to install cams, then you can chime in.

no not mad. I just dont get why people chime in with comments that dont answer the question. When people ask questions. They want answers. I just hate pointless posts. Its like, ohhh someone responded, let me check it out. I click and I see that. lol. Wow, that did me no good. haha They quoted me 1500-1650. Im not going to name the shop because i dont bad mouth shops or try to put out bad reps unless they really F*** me.

i would say thats a little overpriced, but it depends on the shop rate/hours of the job they quoted u for.

i had a friend get the same install as u and it came to 950 with tuning

I little overpriced?, that is a scam, i heard mitsu charges for that 500. And I bet you could find someone in this forum that could help u out and do it for half that.

Ballpark prices-

Cams-500
Dyno Tune-500
Studs-100
Headgasket-100
Labor-(four hours @ $80/hour) 360

Total-1560

Even if I am off by an hour in labor (1560 -80=1480) and over on the whole thing by 10% (1480 *.9=1338) it would still come to over 1300. The shop who quoted you are on the high side (but not crazy high).

And before anyone jumps on by back about the prices, I did say ballpark prices!

back in the day I think I did mine for 1200 everything at the shop, ct.

Cossie cams, head studs, installation and custom tune. All done in a day and was very happy. After 8 thousand miles still going strong and even have seen 300 miles per tank...
