I truly believe that the agressiveness of your tune (timing and afr) is much more of a variable in the transfer equation than simply the amount of boost you run.
This is a very good point, which is sort of the norm for the Grand National crowd. One of the first gauges to get is a knock gauge and boost gauge. Purekoryo, how easy is the TurboXS knock light install? I was looking at getting that.

knock lite install was very easy. Wires for:
swichted power (radio etc.)
ground
rpm signal
knock signal

it is a very useful tool for real time knock monitoring.

anyone else have had studs stretching or headgaskets blowing under high boost pressure? this is a good thread to see the stats on what's going on out there. For the originator of the thread, can you do a stat for this thread?

Having said all that, however, does anyone have experience with having leaks with the stock gasket and stud at about 27 psi+?
I'm running about that much boost (perhaps a bit more) on the stock setup with 100 octane tuned by AMS. I'm not sure if I am having leaking issues, but I can say that my temps have been an issue my last 2 track events.

After some front end damage - I did recently switch to an aftermarket small radiator kit - and went back to the stock intercooler. Not sure if that combination is my issue?? I do know both will lead to a bit more heat on the engine.

Whatever the issue, I'm working to troubleshoot that now! My engine oil looks fine (not milkly) so I might be ok on the head gasket arena??

My evo bothers what do you think? Sorry for the duplicate thread in Evo X forum
they are very inexpensive. don't cheap out on the little things in my opinion.

I run 30psi daily and have had no problems. The main thing to worry about is detonaton. If you have a knock free tune there should not be any problems. But once you change a head go for the arp studes

im running meth on a stock turbo and have no intention on upgrading studs. Boost is definetely not the cause of concern its detonation. And since my tune is consevative I dont have to worry about detonation with 28psi of boost.

if you didnt do them when u did the cams forget about them til you push 30 psi. i ran 30psi on meth with the stock turbo for over a year with no problems. when i put the red on i did them though.

I'm running stockers for now at about 29psi. Everything seems fine, then again, I don't have too many miles on my car. If it pukes coolant it will just be an excuse to do some upgrades
