How did everyone do it that did not take it to the dealer I have the fluids just no access to a lift. I know it needs to be on level ground to be done.

Either 4 jack stands or ramps in the front and jackstands in the back.

For transfer case / rear Diff
1 can of KAAZ Powertrain Gear oil: $45.00
1 small plastic fluid pumper thingy...: $6.00
...and about 1/3 can still left for the next fluid change.
about 1.5 hours of your time (including cleanup)

For tranny:
Haven't done this on my evo yet. Fluid was changed with the clutch...so...yeah...
but couple quarts of good gear oil shouldn't run you over $35.00

I just pay someone to do it. I stay clean and it's not that expensive.

Just make sure that the dealership actually stocks Diaqueen. Some dealerships I have talked to have never even heard of it. Plus, if a dealership does not know the proper fluids to put into the car, I wouldn't really trust them to do the work. Plus like other people have said, it is really easy and cheap to do on your own.

What tranny oil did you use?

I did my tranny at about 17k with super diaqueen and it did not remedy my 5th gear synchro grind that just started before changing the fluids. I may try MT-90...

OEM fluids all around (you can get them pretty cheap from mitsubishiparts). If you can change your own oil, you can change your tranny... um... oil!! It's the same deal with the exception of opening the fill hole before the drain plug.

My question is, has anyone dared do the belt service themselves yet? I'd love a nice write-up on THAT one.

Let me rephrase that... WHY does Mitsu charge $500 for the service?

^ because most people do not understand how easy it is to do this. You hear the word Transmission and most people think it's some rocket-science complicated thing. I've even heard of some shops (not dealers in all honesty) saying that they had to open up the transmission to accomplish these services. More than likely they're just referring to certain AT that require you to actually open up the under pan to dump the transmission fluid. Clearly, manuals are not like that.. nor are any of the newer transmissions for that matter.

I changed my tranny fluid with the Nissan oil, its the same spec as called for from the manufacturer. Noticed a great difference! What have you guys done about your ACD fluid?
