Cam gear options???

Well getting cams put in next couple weeks. Need to know what cam gear is best. I know there used to be some cam gears that locked, but the company that made them discontinued them??

Please let me know my options. I am looking for something well made and accurate. I don't want slippage.

Should I get it on both sides or just one side?

If you must have an adjustable gear(s), then check out Unorthodox Racing.

I had fidanza cam gears on my 8. They never slipped. Cam gears are a fire and forget mod. Once dialed in you tighten them up and forget all about them.

For the record.... I really don't think they are worth the trouble.

fidanza cam gear's installed a handfull of them never had any slip but it is very important to have them in the evo hole instead of the dsm. If you own a evo 9 you can only install the exauhst cam gear as the intake cam is your mivec cam.

If you go with the HKS cam gears just make sure of one thing...

line the marks on the gears that are at the 12 o'clock position up with the marks on the valve cover. In doing so youll notice the timing marks on the gears located at 3 and 9 o'clock will not form a perfectly horizontal line like marks on cam gears usually do. this is OK! It appears the intake cam is retarded two teeth, this is how it should be.

why HKS puts marks on their gears at 3 and 9 o'clock that are not used is beyond me. Its very confusing and proved to be a costly mistake on my end. They need to just take those marks off the gears.

A.E.M. I think they have threaded inserts which is "more better" than threaded aluminum.

I remember reading several threads about a members who had Prostreet Camgears which came loose and caused some problems for them.
