Anyone try the Forced Performance IX cams yet?

http://store.forcedperformance.net/m...CamSpringCombo

noticed these today. Not a bad price at all with springs included. Anyone try these, or have any comments to how they would compare to the Cossies or HKS?

So.. they have 271's (FP4R) and 275's (FP5R).

The 271 has actual duration @ .050 of 225/224 (compared to 206/200 stock)
The 275 has actual duration @ .050 of 229/228 (compared to 206/200 stock)

The 271 has lift of 11.2mm/10.8mm (compared to 10.05mm/9.32mm stock)
The 275 has lift of 12.0mm/11.7mm (compared to 10.05mm/9.32mm stock)

Same here. I thought it was strange that I hadn't heard a peep about them. My initial thought was that they were just the same as the Buschur custom grinds (since they have been working together so much lately).

I am more surprised FP DOES recommend valvetrain with that lift. I would trust cosworth's recommendations more just because they have more experience in the cam business. And cosworth does say not to rev over stock.

The 271's don't require new valvetrain... they simply provide longer duration with marginal increases in lift (intake actually has slightly less lift than stock).
The 275's hammmer out almost 11mm, so FP recommends valvetrain.

Actually on cosworths website they do recommend valvetrain upgrades with their m2 cams

Cosworth does recommend upgraded springs/retainers.

TTP and many other tuners say you can get away with the stock valvetrain. (theres a bunch of fast cars out there with M2s on the stock valve train, still haven't heard of any slapping bending valves)

Recheck them lift specs again, they're a LOT larger than what is posted in the beginning of this thread. Read the cam cards. Also read the explanation of when and why springs/retainers must be changed.

someone posted a PDF of Cosworth specs, and they are all fanuckered up. Its impossible to have the same duration spec at 1mm valve lift and .050" valve lift, and an intake duration of 255 deg @ .050" is just flat-out WRONG unless they moved the cam gear full advance to full retard and included its entire range.
