to twin scroll or not to twin scroll. T3 housing comparison

Im re-doing my 35r turbo setup at the moment, i had this 0.82 TS housing laying around that was meant to be for a GT30r but never got round to fitting it. While i had everything in bits on the garage floor i decided to see how the TS housing would fit on the 35r. Obviously it shouldnt fit and i got a bit of a shock when it slid straight over the 35r turbine wheel They must have sent me the wrong one, i dodnt even know there is a 0.82 housing available for the 35r, only .78 and the hard to get 1.01?

Im going to be making a new manifold anyway so this got me thinking i could do a twin scroll manifold and use this housing. My concern is it might be too small and surge like a **** and die up top. The volute part that feeds the turbine wheel looks very small and to me looks alot more restrictive than the undivided 0.82 T3. I guess i could try it and if its crap try and get the 1.01 but these are pretty hard to get, especially in Australia.

I noticed you said you were making a manifold anyway. I assume you will fabricate it yourself? If so, why not make a twin scroll and see how it works with that housing. If you don't like it then go back to the single scroll. But I will say based on what I've read from Evodans thread it will probably do exactly what you are expecting.

I wouldn't recommend a TS, you get no top end. Your better off getting a HTA turbo.

No, I was being sarcastic because most are aware that you have a FR 35r kit and patiently waiting on your results. But I see now he was also being sarcastic so my post was all for nothing.

As do I. What size turbine housing are you using?

No im not making it myself, so i need to make a good decision as i wont be able to go back to single scroll.

To me the TS footprint looks smaller than regular T3, I dont want to end up with no top end because of a restrictive housing.

Think im just going to do a normal 4-1 with the regular 0.82.

Could be, I probably have to get it checked out, somewhere at 9800 rpm.
