i have 03 lancer evo8 with the 5sp trans
the gear wouldnt stay in 4th gear and just jumping out to neutral
it actually goes in to 4th and stay there unless i give a gas and it just pops out
and i also noticed the 3rd gear is also trying to do that like it moves up and down lil bit as i gas it and let off
anybody had this problem before?
im trying to get some kinda idea of what you guys think before i take the tranny all apart

Its the 4 gear synchro...so yes the tranny needs to come apart to fix it...or go get a bungy cord and strap down the shifter in forth... joking!

 

Take ur tranny to SHEP !!!!!!

You need a transmission rebuild.

What about if the reverse jumps out ???? All other gears are awesom......

 

Same thing happen to me. I power shifted 3rd to 4th once and it blew the whole gear out.

how much is it to rebuild mine?
i see that they charge 850 to rebuild trans but i just dont know if the prices gonna be same in my case
