Factory boost solenoid Problems
Factory boost solenoid Problems
Well the nightmare continues with my used Evo VIII. I bought my evo which was owned by a complete dumbass. First he mounted the diverter valve backwards. Second he left the o2 bung in the dp unpluged from his af gauge that he ripped out.(theres much more but not worth mentioning)Now the Vac lines on Factory boost solenoid is mounted up wrong. He has the fitting from the turbo going to the top of the solenoid and the line from the wastegate going to the other nipple on the solenoid. No line going to the intake and no restrictor pills. I just order all new vac lines but my question is what damage has been done to my poor evo that I need to replace?
chances are that what you removed was only on there to sell the car. id be more concerned about what mods the car had done to it before it was thrown back together incorrectly with OEM parts
id recommend having someone W ECUflash or the like verify your tune. if they tossed the car back together that half-assed, its likely they would not flash the map back to stock

well im gonna reflash it with accessport. i know it doesnt have cams or fuel pump so i should be alright. But do you guys think any damage was done(wastegate, turbo etc) with the lines hooked up like that. If it doesnt relieve pressure from the turbo line the wastegate was staying closed correct?
well he didnt sell it to me the dealership did. Anyway took off the glovebox to match numbers on the ecu and all the ecu bolts that hold it there were loose one was missing. So im thinking he had a reflash on it. Maybe i was wrong on the camshafts then.Do you guys know if there is someway i can pop off the valve cover and read a part number to see if it has aftermarket camshafts???Also was there any damage done to the BCS or wastegate being hooked up like that??

You do not need to remove an Evo ECU to flash it. It is done through the OBDII port using a special OpenPort 1.3M cable (aka Tactrix Cable).
There probably wasn't any damage done in having the lines incorrectly run the way you described. The solenoid is setup as such:
Also, the stock ROM (and most base flashes) are setup to bleed as much air as possible from turbo to intake, so if he ran the turbo vac line to the intake bleed port on the solenoid and hooked the wastegate vac line to the turbo outlet side, chances are no harm was caused, because the solenoid keeps that bleed open and the WGA just received raw boost (no restrictor pill). You were probably running WG pressure 10.5psi

Code:
---Turbo---Pill---
|---Solenoid/Intake Bleed
---WG Actuator---
