Fluidampr's..........get them while you can.
TTP-Engineering has many Fluidampr's in stock of the original aluminum format. Buschur Racing or TTP-Engineering would be fine Evo shops to purchase these units at great pricing.

I hate when this happens. I ordered mine the Monday before this post was brought up. I figured well i should still be okay but now that i got it im not sure. It is pretty heavy and the backing plate on it looks like steel. So can someone please clarify?
Is just the backing plate going to steel "like the one i got?" Whats the best way for me to tell which one i got?

There are still a number of shops that have the aluminum ones in stock. Fluidampr currently has a dozen or so left, we have 20, BR and TTP both have them too so if you ordered one on Monday you will be OK. The new ones will be ALL steel. Not sure what you mean by the steel backing plate.
The reason that they're switching over to the steel construction is because they're having trouble welding the aluminum housings. So instead of getting new welding equipment they're changing to materials that are easier to manufacture. This will be a good thing though since the added weight will add to the effectiveness of the damper.

JAM, instead of coming in and making stupid remarks and accusing me of lieing you could have taken a different approach. I could care less about the love letter you posted. I'd say it's quite obvious you aren't the only company that helped, I didn't claim to be either. I said we had a hand in the development. You worked with Dan which is odd because the guy in charge of the product when we were working on it was Fred and Dan mentioned today that was before him. Getting into this is stupid, you want your claim to fame to be you helped with a damper, you can have that one, it's all you have I guess.
I also clarified what I meant on the one piece construction, nowhere did I say the damper was a solid chunk of aluminum, read my post. This isn't an unorthodox pulley, we don't sell that crap.
Also, the aluminum and steel dampers are both considerably heavier than the stock aluminum damper. I will also say again to the rest of you that we suggest these for use on any application where tech is going to possibly get you for not having it. Otherwise, the stock damper works well and is lighter. As I also stated my RS has the stock damper on it.

Well i just checked mine that i ordered the monday before this post. First i tried a refrigerator magnet and it wouldnt stick so i thought i was good to go. But them my fiance had to come bring me her nametag magnet that is strong and that thing stuck like no other. So i would guess i got the steel one. I ordered mine from STIKiller on the 10th.
So with that should i go ahead and sell this to get the aluminum one? How much HP/Torque loss do you think i will lose with the added 2lbs of weight?
Chris

Chris
will there be any performance increase/decrease going from stock to the aluminum to steal one?? seeing how each one weighs differently. it would give some added rotational mass and need more effort to turn it.
yes/no?
dyno test?? lol

Fuuny you mentioned that co vr4 as the reason we were contacted was to provide the timing mark, doll pin locations. All we did we send them stock dampers (we bought new ones and shipped there) explained which ones were for which year cars and then they sent us back samples of each one to double check.
YEARS ago with did some real development work with Fisher-Terry dampers. We contacted them at the PRI show in Columbus and built a clutch style damper for the 1G DSM's. It took a lot of parts being shipped back and forth between us before we got one that really kicked butt. We had a verbal contract with them (which is good enough for me, but not most others) to be the only seller of the part. Worked out very well for both of us, part worked very well too. Then one half of the Fisher-Terry left the business and the other half got greedy and didn't honor our agreement. I told him to shove his product up his ***. I don't think the make the part anymore as the sale disapeared after our falling out. Nothing could have made me happier. Sweet revenge. Funny how that all works out.

I had several conversations with Dan during the time in the process when they were working out the bugs in the first set they made with the wrong dowel pin locations...
