Adjusting Bearing and Carrier Preloads in Transfer Case.

TRE, SHeptrans, and others reshim the spider gears and redo the bearing clearances in transfer case during rebuilds. I have a good transfer case and a service manual to do this. Only question if someone knows the answer, are they setting these tolerances to the minimum as per the service manual, or to another number that is smaller. The factory tolerances are pretty wide. I am trying to avoid the down time involved in sending the transfer case out. Someone must have done this locally or themselves. Input is appreciated.

I have the service manual. so I have the numbers the dealer will go with, I more interested in what is done aftermarket. I don't feel right to call shep and ask, that's a business and he gets paid to do that. Just me. Might have to do that as a last resort.
