Gears Hard to Engange on Fresh Rebuild

So, I got my car back from the dealership today after a fresh rebuild (courtesy of Mitsubishi's MR transmission TSB). Anyway, it is extremely difficult to engage any of the gears at low speeds (e.g. while stopped at a light or driving through a parking lot). I mean, I am a big guy and I have to put some serious strength into it. What is odd is that it becomes easier to shift higher RPM's.

My first thought is clutch and that it needs adjustment. Even with my foot all the way to the floor when I change gears the car tends to lurch as I engage each gear, meaning that the clutch is not fully disengaged (or engaged)? Does this sound like it could be solved by a simple clutch adjustment or does the transmission simply need to be "broken" in?

Thoughts?

Probably needs to be broken in, But if after a while you see no changes take it back!!

If it were the clutch, would it still be hard to engage gears while the car is turned off and parked?

I've NEVER felt a transmission like this before, they have rebuilt this transmission before and it shifted like BUTTER when I got it back which leads me to believe there is something SERIOUSLY wrong with this one.

if it goes in and out of gear fine with the car off then there is a problem with the clutch. try bleeding the clutch hydraulic system and readjust the clutch pedal.

The gears are just as hard to engaged while parked as they are while driving slowly, which makes me believe it is internal.

I will give it the 500 miles and see how it goes.

Do not give it 500 miles! Adjust the clutch and make sure to bleed the clutch line too. You should never have to put much force behind it to get it into gear. I'd take it back at the very least if you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself. If you are forcing it you could really screw up the tranny , if you haven't already.

I will be adjusting the clutch this weekend to see if it helps. The fact that the gears are hard to engage even while the car is stationary (and turned off) leads me to believe it is not the clutch, but rather something inside of the transmission.

I had the same exact same thought of causing MORE problems driving it. They had my car for over a month, I was itching to drive it again, otherwise I would have left it there for them to fix it.

I didn't say anything about the car being stationary, I said when the car is OFF.

edit: just saw your post above about the car being off... you likely have an internal transmission problem

Interesting, it doesn't make any sense to me. A brand new transmission from the factory shifts perfectly, the last time they rebuilt it shifted fine, why all of a sudden so I have to slam it to get it into place?

I've had it a couple of times where it refuses to get into gear, missed shifts, syncro grinding, it's embarrassing! Like I am just learning how to drive a stick!!
