MR six speed cold shifting

Hey guys,

Help me put my mind at ease. When my transmission is cold, sometimes I feel that the 1-2 shift is a little rougher than usual. There's no sound but It almost feels like I can feel the dog teeth 'pop' a little bit. No problems whatsover getting the car in any gear.

I have 22K miles on my car and it's been perfect, did an MT90 fluid change at 15K. I think it's always been like this but just wanted to compare my MR experience with the rest of you.

-n.

I personally own a 5-speed evolution 9. This is notorious in all kinds of mitsu's. Our tranny's are naturally notchy. Especially when it is cold i can have trouble going into 2nd and 3rd.

Its fine, its just cold, especially with MT90 in it. From my experience, these trannies are a bit notchy when regular shifting, but are great when you're on it.

FYI, Wearing synchros will first be evident when you try to shift fast and will get to the point were regular shifting will grind too. Of course, you should always be sure your fluid/trans is up to operating temp before shifting fast.

Yeah, just read a bunch of stuff about how I should use the Diaqueen so I got paranoid since I used MT90 in my six speed. I'll use Diaqueen next time. Thanks guys!

I've been using a MOPAR 75W-85 full synthetic fluid in my MR since 12,000 miles. I am now at 80,000 with no issues. Had an oil analysis done by Blackstone Labs at 74,000 and everything came back AOK. No 2nd gear notchiness issues whatsoever.

I've heard you know a few things about transmissions, what fluid would you recommend for the 6 speed?

Like I've mentioned before, I don't have 2nd gear notchiness. No MR tranny cold gearbox issues either.

While I may not be an SCCA division champ I really like the MOPAR fluid that I use in my tranny

Same cold 6spd issues here. For the first couple times going into 2nd gear in the morning, the shifter tries to kick back into neutral. I just baby it until shes warm.
